"I had seen multiple doctors without getting any real answers. From the very first conversation at heal., I finally felt heard."

Why gut issues often remain unresolved

Digestive issues are common — but their causes are often complex. If these underlying connections aren’t explored, symptoms tend to keep coming back.

01

Symptom management instead of root cause analysis

Treatment often focuses on managing symptoms rather than identifying the underlying triggers.

02

Limited diagnostics for functional imbalances

Standard tests may miss functional imbalances in digestion, nutrient absorption, or inflammatory processes.

03

Gut health is viewed too narrowly

Gut health is closely connected to hormones, the immune system, metabolism, and mental health — but is rarely approached this way.

Is this right for me?

Our approach is right for you if…

You’ve been dealing with digestive issues for a long time without finding a clear cause

Previous treatments haven’t led to lasting improvements

Your symptoms affect multiple areas of your body or change over time

You want to understand the root cause — not just suppress symptoms short-term

You’re open to looking at nutrition, lifestyle, and diagnostics together

What sets us apart

Holistic gut health support at heal.

We combine four disciplines that rarely come together in conventional medicine — for a level of care that goes deeper than a single treatment approach.

Diagnostics

Advanced lab testing & analysis

Microbiome analysis, SIBO breath testing, inflammation markers — going beyond standard labs with a clear focus on gut health.

Nutrition

No generic protocols — tailored to your microbiome, intolerances, and daily life.

Supplementation

Targeted supplements & probiotics

Based on your results, we recommend carefully selected supplements and probiotic strains — precisely matched to your microbiome, not one-size-fits-all.

Time & depth

60–90 min initial consultation

Your full health history, nutrition, stress levels, and previous findings — we take the time to understand the bigger picture.

What makes us unique

Visceral osteopathy + functional medicine + nutrition therapy

We are one of the few practices in Germany combining structural gut work with root-cause diagnostics and personalized nutrition — all in one place.

Areas of focus – Gut Health

Which gut health issues can our consultation help with?

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Persistent abdominal pain, bloating, and irregular bowel movements without clear medical findings
Many people wait years for a diagnosis — or are told “everything looks normal.” IBS is often a sign of deeper underlying causes.

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)

Too many bacteria in the wrong place — causing bloating, diarrhea, and nutrient deficiencies
SIBO is often misdiagnosed as IBS. It’s estimated that up to 70% of IBS patients may actually be affected — without knowing it.

Leaky Gut (Increased Intestinal Permeability)

A compromised gut lining allows unwanted substances to enter the bloodstream
Leaky gut is linked to chronic inflammation, autoimmune conditions, and intolerances — yet often goes undetected.

Heartburn & Acid Reflux

Stomach acid rises into the esophagus — often chronically and distressing
Long-term acid blockers don’t solve the root problem — they suppress symptoms and may even promote SIBO. We look deeper.

Constipation & Diarrhea

Irregular bowel movements as a sign of a disrupted gut–brain axis
Chronic constipation or diarrhea often reflect deeper imbalances in the microbiome or nervous system — not just diet.

Food Intolerances

Reactions to gluten, lactose, or histamine — often secondary to SIBO or leaky gut
Many intolerances are a result of gut dysfunction. Simply eliminating foods without understanding the cause treats only the symptom.

Histamine Intolerance

Overreaction to histamine-rich foods due to impaired breakdown
Headaches, skin reactions, or heart palpitations after eating — often linked to SIBO and frequently mistaken for allergies.

Chronic Bloating

Excess gas production due to bacterial fermentation in the small intestine
A bloated stomach shortly after eating is one of the most common signs of SIBO. Many people live with it for years without knowing why.

Ulcerative Colitis & Crohn’s Disease

Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases with flare-ups and remission phases
We support people with IBD alongside medical treatment — focusing on nutrition, stress regulation, and microbiome balance.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Persistent abdominal pain, bloating, and irregular bowel movements without clear medical findings
Many people wait years for a diagnosis — or are told “everything looks normal.” IBS is often a sign of deeper causes.

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)

Too many bacteria in the wrong place — causing bloating, diarrhea, and nutrient deficiencies
Often misdiagnosed as IBS. Up to 70% of IBS patients may actually have SIBO — without knowing it.

Leaky Gut

A compromised gut lining allows unwanted substances into the bloodstream
Linked to inflammation and intolerances — and often overlooked.

Heartburn & Reflux

Stomach acid rising into the esophagus
Medication often suppresses symptoms but doesn’t address the root cause.

Constipation & Diarrhea

Irregular bowel movements linked to gut–brain imbalance
Often a deeper microbiome or nervous system issue.

Food Intolerances

Reactions to certain foods due to gut imbalance
Eliminating foods alone doesn’t solve the underlying problem.

Histamine Intolerance

Impaired breakdown of histamine
Often confused with allergies and linked to gut issues.

Chronic Bloating

Excess gas production in the gut
A key sign of SIBO in many cases.

Ulcerative Colitis & Crohn’s

Chronic inflammatory bowel conditions
We support alongside medical care with a holistic approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our gut health consultation.

What is SIBO and how is it diagnosed?

SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) refers to an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine — bacteria in the wrong place. Typical symptoms include bloating shortly after eating, diarrhea, constipation, and nutrient deficiencies. SIBO is diagnosed using a breath test that measures hydrogen and methane levels. In our practice, we perform this test and interpret the results together with your medical history.

What is leaky gut and how is it related to digestive issues?

Leaky gut refers to increased intestinal permeability. This allows unwanted substances to enter the bloodstream, which can contribute to chronic inflammation, food intolerances, and autoimmune reactions. It often develops as a result of SIBO, dysbiosis, or chronic stress. We assess intestinal barrier function using specific lab markers and support targeted gut lining regeneration.

Can I attend the consultation online?

Yes — we offer initial consultations, result reviews, and follow-up care online as well. Diagnostic tests such as the SIBO breath test can be done at home, and results are discussed remotely. This allows us to support patients throughout Germany.

Do I need a diagnosis before booking an appointment?

No. Many of our patients come to us after multiple doctor visits without receiving a clear diagnosis. We start with your personal history — no referral or prior diagnosis is required.

What happens during the initial consultation?

The initial consultation lasts 60 minutes. We take time to understand your full health history, nutrition, stress levels, and previous findings — not just your current symptoms. Based on this, we define the next steps together, such as advanced diagnostics, SIBO testing, or dietary adjustments.

What kind of diagnostics are used?

Depending on your symptoms, we may recommend a combination of SIBO breath testing, comprehensive microbiome analysis, stool diagnostics, intestinal barrier markers, and advanced blood tests for inflammation and micronutrients. These go far beyond standard diagnostics and reveal patterns often missed in routine labs.

What does the consultation cost?

The initial consultation costs €145 (60 minutes). Additional diagnostics such as microbiome analysis or SIBO testing are discussed transparently in advance — depending on your symptoms and needs. There are no hidden costs.

Will health insurance cover the costs?

The consultation is a self-pay service and is generally not covered by statutory health insurance. Private health insurance may reimburse part or all of the costs depending on your plan. We are happy to advise you during your first appointment.

Can osteopathy help with digestive issues?

Visceral osteopathy can be a valuable complement in treating digestive issues. Targeted manual techniques on the intestines, diaphragm, and surrounding structures can help release tension and support gut motility. Combined with functional diagnostics and nutritional therapy, this forms part of our holistic approach.

How long does treatment usually take?

This depends on your individual condition. Many patients notice first improvements within 6–12 weeks. For more complex cases such as SIBO or leaky gut, we provide long-term support with regular follow-ups and lab monitoring every 3–6 months.

What is the difference between IBS and SIBO?

IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is a diagnosis of exclusion — it describes symptoms without identifying a root cause. SIBO, on the other hand, is a specific and diagnosable condition that often underlies IBS symptoms. Studies suggest that up to 70% of IBS patients may have undiagnosed SIBO. We specifically investigate whether SIBO, dysbiosis, or other factors are contributing to your symptoms.

Where is your practice located?
